**Sorry about the confusion between insurance/liscence--I always confuse the 2.

Check the state laws/DMV laws re what kind of offense driving with a suspended liscence is. Your DMV should be able to tell you. In NY it's a crime that carries penalties from $200 to $5000. It could result in mandatory imprisonment or probation , seizure and possible forfeiture of the car. This is NY, however. Laws in your state may be different.
